Hello, rom-com fans. Lisa Daily here. Thanks for stopping by! This is a brand new site, even though I’ve been doing this author thing for a while now. Why? I was ready, really ready for a makeover, and it was either this or I was going to start cutting my own hair using YouTube videos and old kitchen scissors.
Like a lot of people right now, I’ve been kind of floating along for the last year, trying to figure out what’s important to me, what makes me happiest, and where I want to go in the future. And here’s what I’ve decided: just as in all my very favorite books and movies, I’m going all-in on love.
So even though I’ve barely been out of my house over the last year, I’ve finally had my running-through-the-airport moment. I don’t want any of those other books — I just want you, romantic comedy. That’s right, I want love, love, and more love.
I want meet cutes, and first kisses in the rain, and the flirty, witty banter between two people who are perfectly matched and really get each other, characters I can’t stop thinking about, and heroes and heroines who sacrifice everything that matters to them in the moment because they know that this person will change their lives forever.
I’ve never felt this way about any of the other books I’ve written. And I’m ready to take the plunge, even though it’s scary and I’m better known for my other books.
I’m willing to take a chance on love.
So, that’s what I’ll be doing from now on. Happily ever after, with all the swoony book boyfriends I can’t stop thinking about.
If you’re new to me or my writing, I’d love to take this opportunity to introduce myself. (You did come all this way, after all.)
I’m an award-winning, bestselling author of romantic comedies including Single-Minded and Fifteen Minutes of Shame that will probably make you snort-laugh, but will definitely make you swoon. (I’ve also written seven other books, but let’s face it — contemporary romance is awesome and that’s where my heart is. ) This should not come as a shock — I grew up on a steady diet of rom-com books and Nora Ephron films like Sleepless in Seattle, Bewitched, and You’ve Got Mail; not to mention all the Sandra Bullock (While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality), Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones), Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman) and Reese Witherspoon (Sweet Home Alabama, This Means War) movies I could absorb.
Romantic comedy books are still my favorite — from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (I can’t read Lizzie’s dialogue and NOT think of P&P as a rom-com) and Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series, to Christina Lauren’s Soulmate Equation and Dating You, Hating You, Emily Henry’s Beach Read, and Not Like the Movies by Kerry Winfrey.
I’m currently working on my tenth book, a steamy, dreamy, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance (with a love triangle!!!) set on Lido Key, off my hometown of Sarasota, Florida. There will be laughs. And kissing. Be sure to stay tuned for more on that, or better yet, join my VIP Swoon Squad and you’ll be the first to know (and get a sneak peek!) when I have news to share.
Just like in every good rom-com, I’m going to need my awesome BFFs (that’s you) to bring some hilarity, give me some tough love when I need it, and offer some sage advice on my road to big love.
Hugs and kisses (lots of kisses),
Lisa
